CyanogenMod 11 Nightly for Samsung Galaxy S3. Full Review

Monday, June 09, 2014

It’s time for your phone to go on a diet and loose some of those apps! No your handset can’t eat less food, but it can be rooted and have a custom ROM flashed to make it skinnier.
As with most Android users, the devices we get from our carriers (US Cellular for me) are amazing and powerful, but are bloated and bogged down with unnecessary apps. Break loose from those extra pounds by using Cyanogenmod!
This blog post will cover my usage of Cyanogenmod 11 Nightly and experience in comparison to different versions.

Overall Experience with 11:
As expected the nightly version will have a few random bugs that need to be stomped out, but the core functionality is there and most things work flawlessly! Battery life seems to have improved drastically. Camera app isn’t distorted and split SMS messages split properly when needed (YAY CMDA). My phone also seems just a tad quicker but that may just be me.
04/30 Nightly:
Audio isn’t loud enough, speaker phone not working at all, occasionally makes noise like I received a notification but there is nothing.
04/29 Nightly:
Flashed and everything basically worked, no hangups. Speaker phone seems buggy and so does audio. Had to uninstall/reinstall Google Drive, YouTube, and Chrome.
