Lava launches Iris X1 for Rs 7,999: Broadcom CPU, Android KitKat, 8MP camera

After the launch of Moto E, looks like manufacturers are focussing on a great package when crafting a sub-Rs 8,000 phone. Lava has launched the all new Iris X1, that the company has been teasing for some time now. Priced at Rs 7,999, the X1 is among the few in India and the first from Lava to run Android KitKat in the budget segment, and also comes powered by a Broadcom processor. While Moto E is exclusive to Flipkart, the Iris X1 will be available via Amazon.in and retail stores from tomorrow. Online buyers can also take home a free 16GB micro SD card.

Lava Iris X1 takes is said to take a leaf out of the Iris Pro series as far as the aesthetics is concerned. It runs the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box. With an 8.9 mm of thickness and 138 grams in weight, the handset sports a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS (854 x 480 pixels) display. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Broadcom BCM23550 processor coupled with 1GB RAM.

The Iris X1 comes equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 1.4 µm pixel BSI+ sensor. It also gets a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling.

The 4GB onboard storage is expandable up to 32GB via micro-SD card. The connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.0 BLE (Bluetooth low energy), micro-USB and EDGE. It offers OTG support to enable file transfer through USB drive. All of this is backed by a long-lasting 1800 mAh battery.

Available in black and white colour options, the device bundles a Flip cover powered by a sensor that puts the phone automatically in sleep mode ensuring reduced battery consumption.
